What is the secret to being one of the most desirable islands in the Maldives for leisure and relaxation for 12 years now?

My journey in the travel industry has been both enriching and fulfilling. Over the years, I have had the privilege to work with diverse teams and properties in some of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Each experience has taught me the importance of adaptability, innovation, and the power of human connection in creating memorable guest experiences. It has been an honour to contribute to the growth and success of each property while learning from every challenge and opportunity.

 What is your definition of success?

For me, success is about creating meaningful and lasting experiences, not only for our guests but also for our team. It’s about fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and growth that allows individuals and organisations to thrive. True success is when guests leave with cherished memories and our team feels empowered and inspired every day.

What are your plans for the development of the resort?

Our focus is on continuous enhancement to ensure Dusit Thani Maldives remains a preferred destination. We plan to introduce more sustainable initiatives, elevate our wellness and culinary offerings, and further enrich guest experiences by integrating local culture and modern comforts. We aim to maintain our leadership position while staying true to our commitment to the environment and community.

Dusit Thani’s second island, under the D2 brand, is about to open, where you are also the general manager. What are your plans for D2?

The D2 brand offers an exciting opportunity to provide a fresh and dynamic experience while staying true to Dusit’s values of gracious hospitality. Our plans for D2 include creating a vibrant and contemporary space that appeals to a younger, more adventurous demographic. We aim to integrate unique experiences, innovative amenities, and engaging activities while maintaining the authenticity and charm that guests associate with Dusit properties.

In view of the changing trends in the Maldivian tourism industry, how do you see the two islands of the Dusit Thani chain in relation to these changes?

The Maldivian tourism industry is evolving, with a growing emphasis on sustainability, experiential travel, and catering to diverse guest profiles. Dusit Thani Maldives will continue to focus on delivering luxurious yet eco-conscious experiences, while D2 will complement this by appealing to a younger, more budget-conscious audience. Together, the two islands offer a well-rounded portfolio that addresses the shifting preferences of travellers while upholding the values of the Dusit brand.
